Hornets finish 7th at Wildcat Duals

The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team finished 7th at the Wildcats Duals in Athens on Wednesday, December 22.

Wellsboro went 1-2 on the day, beating Sayre 51-12 and falling to Athens (56-6) and Spencer-Van Etten (35-34).

Against Athens freshman Silas Mickey scored the Hornets' lone win at 132 by forfeit.

In their loss to Spencer-Van Etten, sophomore Ezra Lawton, freshman Will Gastrock, freshman Jacob Dean, junior Aden Tom, and junior Joe Brown all won by forfeit. Senior Justice Harlan scored a major decision at 285.

In the win against Sayre freshman Alec Magli pinned Jacob Carpenter at 113, Lawton and Mickey won by forfeits at 126 and 132, Dean won by pin at 145. Tom and freshman Ryder Bowen scored forfeits at 160 and 172, Brown won by decision at 189, junior Wyatt Gastrock won by forfeit at 215, and Harlan won by forfeit at 285.

The Hornets (2-4, 1-2 NTL) are back in action at North Penn-Liberty on Tuesday, January 4.
