Hornet wrestlers go 1-4 at Battle of the Border

The Wellsboro Wrestling team went 1-4 at the Battle of the Border Tournament at Williamson High School on Saturday, January 21.
Alfred-Almond 60, Wellsboro 23
Senior Caleb Sinkler started the match with a 16-0 tech fall over Morgan Davidson at 145 lbs., sophomore Jared Moreno pinned Chase St. George in 1:40 at 152 lbs., and sophomore Hunter Brown (195 lbs.) and senior Kaleb Smith (220 lbs.) picked up forfeits. Sophomore Robert Brown was pinned in 5:04 by Jacob London at 285.
Alfred-Almond won the other 9 matches by forfeit.
Bolivar-Richburg 51, Wellsboro 18
Moreno pinned Michael Burdick in 1:45 at 152 lbs., Robert Brown won by forfeit at 220 lbs., and Smith pinned Jakob Stockett in 1:16 for the Hornets three wins. Sinkler was pinned in 5:42 by Chuck Bolon at 145 lbs.
Addison 48, Wellsboro 28
Sinkler won a 9-0 major decision over Dakota Seeley at 145 lbs., Moreno pinned Blake Knight at 152 lbs., Hunter Brown (195 lbs.) and Robert Brown (285 lbs.) both picked up forfeits, and Smith pinned Jacob Foster at 220 lbs.
Canisteo-Greenwood 42, Wellsboro 21
Moreno won a 6-0 decision over Curtis Quick at 160 lbs., Smith (220 lbs.) and Robert Brown (285 lbs.) scored forfeits, and Hunter Brown pinned Zach Stewart at 195 lbs. Sinkler was disqualified in his match against Thomas Woodward at 145 lbs.
Wellsboro 36, Campbell-Savona 24
Six Hornets scored wins for their lone win of the day. Freshman Connor Ramsey (145 lbs.), Moreno (160 lbs.), and Hunter Brown (195 lbs.) all won forfeits. Sinkler defeated Dalton Elliot at 152 lbs., Smith pinned Cody Padgett in 1:02 at 220 lbs., and Robert Brown pinned Seth Thomas in 3:19 at 285 lbs.
The Hornets, now 4-16 (1-7 NTL), will be back in action at Northeast Bradford on Thursday, January 26.
