Hornet wrestlers fall to Canton, 58-21

The Wellsboro Varsity wrestling team returned to action for the first time in 2014 and fell to Canton, 58-21.

Four Hornets picked up wins on the night led by Seniors Brandon Owlett and Nate Ingerick. Owlett pinned Canton's Clayton Tymeson in 1:39 at 152 lbs., while Ingerick won by an 8-5 decision over Brendan Cohick at 138 lbs, and Sophomore Tyler Evans pinned Brett Wesneski in 2:19 at 126 lbs.

The other win for the Hornets came from Freshman Samantha Spurgeon at 132 lbs. by forfeit.

In the Middle School match, the Hornets lost 31-30.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 0-3 (0-2 NTL). The Varsity team will be back in action on Saturday, January 11 as they travel to Hornell while the Middle School team travels to Port Allegany.
