Hornet wrestling falls to North Penn

The Wellsboro wrestling team dropped their sixth match of the season, this time to rival North Penn, 48-30.

The Hornets won 5 individual matches on the night, two of which were forfeits. Junior Nate Logan picked up a forfeit at 106 lbs. and Freshman Tyler Evans did the same at 113 lbs.

Junior Brandon Owlett picked up a pin at 145 lbs. over Lucas Groover in 1:39 for the Hornets first true win on the night. Wellsboro's other two wins were both pins from their Senior leaders, Chad Daugherty and Eli Kennedy.

Daugherty pinned Benjamin Wilson in 59 seconds at 195 lbs. and Kennedy pinned Zachary Kriner in 2:55 at the 220 lb. weight class.

In Middle School action, the Hornets defeated North Penn 42-24 to pick up their third win of the 2012-13 season.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 0-6 (0-3 NTL Large Division). The team will be back in action on Saturday, January 19 as they participate in the Mifflin County tournament.
