Hornet wrestlers fall to Towanda

The Wellsboro Varsity wrestling team dropped an NTL match to Towanda Thursday night, 49-24.

After losing four straight matches, the Hornets picked up back-t0-back wins by Junior Nate Ingerick and Senior Josh Kennedy. Ingerick pinned Steven Yates in 3:48 at 132 lbs. and Kennedy pinned Breycin Fulmer in 1:58 at 138 lbs.

The Hornets would score three more victories on the night, the first coming from Junior Brandon Owlett. Owlett earned a 6-4 decision over the Dayton Wickwire at 152 lbs. At 195 lbs. Senior Chad Daugherty scored a late fall over Dakoatah Manning in 5:29 while at 220 lbs. Senior Eli Kennedy decisioned Logan Terry 4-1.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 0-5 (0-3 NTL Large School). The team will be back in action on Thursday, January 17 as they host North Penn.
