Bryce Bitner

Coaching Bio

Coach Bitner grew up in Blanchard, PA in Centre County. He graduated from Central Mountain High School, competing in Football, Wrestling, and Tennis. He played Quarterback, Running back, Linebacker, and Defensive End. Coach Bitner then attended Lock Haven University to play Football as a Defensive End/Linebacker and to continue his education, earning a degree in Secondary Education: Social Studies (7-12) and Special Education (K-12).

In Coach Bitner's wrestling career, he compiled a record of 27-15 at 220 and 285 pounds, while his team compiled a team dual record of 40-4, earning a PIAA District VI Championship in 2014 and a PIAA State Team Duals berth. During his career, he earned a 2nd Team All Heartland Conference in 2015-2016 at 285, finishing 4th in the 2016 PIAA District VI Tournament earning a PIAA NW Regional spot. He recorded a 7th place finish at the Tom Best Memorial Top Hat Tournament in 2015, as well as a 7th place finish at the King of the Mountain Tournament in 2015. He was coached under PWCA Hall of Famers Doug Buckwalter and Biff Walizer, as well as PIAA State Champion and NCAA All-American Steve Krouse.

Currently, Coach Bitner is in his 6th year teaching at Wellsboro High School in the Social Studies Department, after teaching Emotional/Learning Support for his first 2 years. He's also in his 5th year at the helm of the Boys Varsity Wrestling Program, that returned to Wellsboro in 2021. Coach Bitner likes to hunt, fish, travel, and spend time with his friends and family when he's not coaching. Coach Bitner also is a Varsity Football Coach working with the Quarterbacks and Defensive Line/Linebackers.
