Coaching Bio
Coach Rupert is in his third year as the head wrestling coach at the Rock L. Butler Middle School. Coach Rupert is originally from Mill Hall, Pennsylvania and attended Bald Eagle Nittany High School. While in high school, Coach Rupert was a 4 year letterman in football (2-time West Branch Conference All-Star 2nd Team Cornerback), a 4 year letterman in golf (3 time PIAA State Championship qualifier - finished top 25 all three years), a 3 year letterman in wrestling (2 time District qualifier), and a letterman in basketball (West Branch Conference All-Star 2nd Team Guard).
After graduating from high school, Coach Rupert attended Lock Haven University where he majored in Psychology and was also a member of the golf team. While on the team, Coach Rupert was a 4 year Captain and letterman, was a 4-time NCAA Qualifier, and placed in the top-25 three times (22nd, 15th, 13th).
After college, Coach Rupert returned to his alma mater to coach wrestling as a volunteer assistant from 1975-1986. In 1996, Coach Rupert became the head coach of the Varsity wrestling team in Wellsboro, and remained in that position until 2004. During that time, Coach Rupert was also the head coach of the golf team.
Coach Rupert lives in Wellsboro with his wife Mary Ellen Rupert with one son Justin, a Wellsboro graduate and a daughter Jillian deceased in 2010.
